Virtual Servers

Overview

Our Virtual Servers are hardware emulated virtual environments. You can run Linux or Windows Operatingsystems but also BSD-based systems or any other OS that is compatible with x86 CPU architecture.
Our systems will emulate all required hardware infrastructure for your virtual servers, including network interface cards, disk controllers or the usual CPU/RAM resources and sockets. The core advantage of virtualised servers are their flexibility. At any time you can upgrade or downgrade their resources and just pay accordingly.

Offers

In general we are specialised on individual configurations.
We offer two different levels of virtual servers to cover any need a customer might have. No if the requirement is very limited in the budget or in need of high stability.
All Virtual Servers are based on HPE Bladetechnology.

Unshared Resources

Unshared means: the resources are dedicated reserved for the specific Virtual Server. No matter if he needs it or not. This way at no point a Virtual Server can suffer from sudden high resource demand of neighbour Virtual Servers of other customers. Such products might be called sometimes also "Rootservers".
It is basically your own private and dedicated portion of a bare metal server.

Shared Resources

Shared means: the resources are NOT reserved for the specific Virtual Server. This way free unused resources on a hostmachine node might be used to create new Virtual Servers. This way a single hostmachine can host in sum more resources for Virtual Servers guests than it physically has. As long as most Virtual Servers will not consume suddenly more resources than they usually do, this will be fine. Since we can place more Virtual Servers on the same hostmachine, we can give a discount for this Virtual Servers as more parties pay the same physical hardware. Such products are called usually "VPS".

Features explained

Noone can know it all. Here are some core features explained in short so you judge if they are a useful choice for you or not.

Backupslots

A Backupslot is the ability to create a full backup of your server on one of our internal backupservers.
The backup can be created while your server is powered on or off.

But as long as the backup is running, you can not create snapshots or power off or on your server!

Snapshots

A snapshot is a copy of the status your disk at the time you create the snapshot of your disk. You can any time revert back to this status.
This is useful if you want to try out something and being able to jump back before you made all the changes of data since the snapshot was taken. Good before updates of applications or databases.
This feature works while your server is running and takes some seconds to be created

rDNS ( reverse DNS )

Reverse DNS is like a DNS record but for your IP address(es).
While normal DNS A-Records will point from a specific (sub)domain to a specific IP, the rDNS record will point from an IP to a specific DNS record.

This is used to add an additional identification of IP addresses belonging to a specific domain.

It is used mainly with eMailservers but sometimes also with VPN server

Remote Console ( VNC )

The VNC Remote Console is an _independent_ way to access the console of your server. Its like a mouse, keyboard and display attached to your server.
You can use it even before your operating system has been booted. And you can access the boot menue with it too.

It is used in case you lost IP connectivity and want to administrate your server or if you want to install your server from scratch all yourself without any templates or automatic installs.

up/downgrades through UI

You can upgrade and downgrade anytime your server independently through the clientarea.
Please keep in mind and beware that you will need to adjust your filesystem before you downgrade the size of your disk. Otherwise your partitiontable will be corrupted.
Also upgrading your disk require you to extend your existing partition and filesystem  to use the new space.

individual ISO mount

If you want to use your own ISO image you can provide a download URL and let the system download the ISO image.

This way you are absolutely independent and can setup or modify any x86 based system on your Virtual Server any time you need it.
